Progress Update 1/16/2022
This week we have focused on further performance improvements for the game, and the upcoming chemoreceptor part. The chemoreceptor will act as a radar ability for your cell, pointing the way towards food that would otherwise be just out of sight. In the future, this part may become customizable to allow for targeting specific foodstuffs, or perhaps even detecting allied or unrelated cells! In later stages, this will be an important part for specialized olfactory cells on your organism. …

This week we've continued to expand on assets for Thrive; such as progress on the chemo-receptor part, and a movement sound rework. Additionally our lead programmer Hhyyrylainen has been focusing on reimplementing a functional in-game crash reporter, to help players report crashing that they experience. We hope to continue with good progress until the release of 0.5.7.
If you haven't already, check out Thrive on Steam and Itch.io!

Progress Update 1/1/2022
It's another year and while we've slowed down a little after the holidays, we still have some neat things to show off and start the new year right. There has been a bit of brainstorming behind the scenes as we seek to devise new and exciting mechanics to make Thrive more lively; such as puzzling out how to generate procedural water currents, and expanding player control over cellular processes. Meanwhile our graphics artists have been busy whipping up some exciting visuals for the plann…

This week has been relatively more quiet as things have calmed down a little after our rush to throw out a patch for 0.5.6, but we are still going strong! We don't have much to show off this week outside of our devbuild, but we have been discussing some new mechanics and features behind the scenes which will likely be posted on our forums soon enough; such as current simulations, patch generation, an enhanced process panel, and more. keep your eyes out for when it goes public!
If yo…

This week we have been focusing on preparing the 0.5.6.1 patch update which has now been released. This update drastically improves auto-evo's performance, so players should no longer be playing a waiting game instead of a cell game. The update also includes some improvements to auto-evo's behavior, which should make it much more sensible and lenient to the player. We hope that this, alongside a host of other bug fixes and improvements, should make for a much better experience for our p…

It's been a week since we released 0.5.6 now, and we have been having a blast looking at all of the fan content that's popped up after our release in stores. We've seen excellent reviews and feedback, entertaining videos and streams, and even some well-made mods. It is incredibly exciting to witness so many people discovering and enjoying Thrive in their own way!
However with so much sudden attention, Thrive has fallen under some intense scrutiny that has revealed to us some rather …

With the release of 0.5.6 quickly approaching, we picked up the pace a bit this week and managed to get a good amount of work done in preparation for our debut in stores. There's only one more week until release and unfortunately not all of our plans will make it through. Looking back however, it is clear that we have made exceptional progress, with a whopping total of 229 closed issues for this release alone! There is now a public testing build available for 0.5.6 on our community …

Progress on the game has continued this week as well. Besides the programming notes below, the Steam build has progressed after a few issues. Turns out we need to compile the GodotSteam module ourselves as we also need Mono support in the engine. And as an added difficulty the build for Windows only works from Windows, meaning that not all game release builds can be made from Linux anymore.
In case you missed it, it's now time to put Thrive on your Steam wishlist.

Progress Update 11/6/2021
First of all the store page for Thrive is now live on Steam so check it out and add us to your wishlist. The release in Early Access is planned to coincide with the 0.5.6 release. There are still a few Steam related things that need doing before then, which we'll hopefully manage to get done in time. The itch.io store page is also ready, but it's still waiting for work to complete regarding the needed scripts to upload Thrive there.
In other progress on Thrive, we had another bu…
