Progress Update 3/26/2022
This past week we've witnessed some increased interest in our project coinciding with the release of Oliver's video, along with the addition of two new programmers to our team. We'd like to welcome everyone to our community, and hope to continue to impress and inspire with our steadily growing game.[/youtube] Progress on our multicellular prototype has reached a point where we can now reveal visible results! It may not look pretty now, but every gem begins life as a dull and uncut s…

It's another week as we continue to march forward in progress, something that might pick up in speed now that some of our programmers are able to find time for Thrive's development again.
Development continues to be focused on our multicellular prototype, with emphasis on the cell previews in the editor. We've also given our tutorials a new coat of paint in hopes of making them more informative and comprehensible.
- New DevBuild for our patrons:
- Tweaked the word…
Progress Update 3/12/2022
Our lead programmer continues to focus their efforts on the multicell prototype, while everyone else has been working on changes that have not yet been committed to the game proper. As a result we unfortunately do not have anything of substance to show off this week.
Refactoring the microbe editor turned out to be quite the feat, but we are happy to say that it is now complete and ready to go. This is a vital step in the creation of the next stage, as the multicellular editor will r…

This week's development was largely focused on refactoring the microbe editor so that it's functions could be reused in later stages, but we still got some work done for the microbe stage regardless. For the time being we have nothing to reveal about the multicellular prototype, but we intend to show off our results once sufficient progress has been made.
New DevBuild for our patrons:
- Extinction music now starts earlier to sync up more dramatically with the ap…
Progress Update 2/26/2022
This week we touched up a few of our current features to further maintain the quality of Thrive; binding agents should be more stable, tutorials just a tad more effective, and various other miscellaneous changes.
We are proud to announce that development on the multicellular prototype has now officially begun, though for now most of that work has gone into refactoring in preparation. Keep in mind that this is a prototype, and that the bulk of our focus will continue to remain on the…

- New DevBuild for our patrons:
- Added new signaling agent organelle, icon and model are not done yet it allows the player to give a few commands to other cells
- Increased compound cloud brightness in brighter biomes to make them much easier to se…
Progress Update 2/12/2022
With the release of 0.5.7 now behind us, we have resumed our work on new features and fixes for Thrive. This week we've put lot's of focus on further performance optimization as we continue to hunt down the cause behind frequent performance drops in Thrive; But we are also giving some attention to new features such as generational atmospheric gas exchange and dynamic MP calculation. Our hope is that we will be able to get plenty of new features ready by 0.5.8 that weren't able to make i…

Today we have released version 0.5.7 of Thrive which includes a new cell part for players to play and experiment with, and an expanded report tab in the editor. Players will never need to worry about not finding what they are looking for, because by evolving the new chemoreceptor part, cells will be able to sniff out resources from considerable distances! Suddenly realized a species is missing and want to know when they went extinct? The history of your world is now chronicled in the newest …

The functionality of the chemoreceptor organelle is now implemented. For the initial release the chemoreceptor will only be able to detect compounds. but in the future we hope to make it also able to detect things like other cells. The chemoreceptor is now the first organelle for which the “modify” option in the editor is implemented. The organelle modify menu allows changing the settings for what the chemoreceptor tries to find. Once we add organelle upgrades to the game this same orga…
