It’s the final week before the release of 0.7.0 and we have now entered feature-freeze. This means that all further development efforts are now aimed at bugfixes and polishing of the new features, and by golly there are a lot of them! In this week alone we have finally implemented both the long-anticipated auto-evo rework, and the equally long-anticipated 3D organism mesh generation.

Programming
- New DevBuild for our patrons:
- Added a completely new auto-evo algorithm based on a miche algorithm. This should massively improve the species auto-evo generates.
- Added convolution surfaces to add “skin” to macroscopic creatures to no longer display them just as a collection of metaballs
- Added new environmental chunks that emit phosphate
- Entering engulf mode without ATP is now possible at the cost of a little bit of health
- There’s now a few second cooldown before health regenerates after taking damage
- Added a cap to how many chunks a dying cell can drop to prevent absolutely massive cells causing issues
- Fixed bug with editor button staying active while going to a later stage
- Updated code checking tools
- 0.7.0-rc1 equivalent build
- Added simple X-axis symmetry mode to macroscopic editor
- Fixed more miche algorithm issues
- Updated translations
- In just one week, our newest programmer has implemented dynamic mesh generation for the multicellular organisms. Imagine the progress we could make if we had the funds to hire them!
This taking place in the volcanic vents biome seems to create a bit of a horror atmosphere doesn’t it? There is still a lot to improve with this new feature, but it’s an exciting step forward!
