Progress Update 10/08/2022

Our lead developer has begun focusing on a new and improved launcher, migrated from javascript to C#. Another of our developers has created a rudimentary prototype of multiplayer as a side project, and one of our graphics artists continues to design revamped symbology for our newest microbe part.

It’s been a rather quiet week otherwise, but progress steadily marches on.

If you have any thoughts on the latest changes to Thrive, please let us know by creating a post in our dedicated feedback thread for 0.5.10! Knowing what our players think is vital for ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Programming

  • New DevBuild for our patrons:
    • Engulfing now gives extra glucose on top of what the engulfed cell actually had
    • Improved performance of our custom rich text labels by only registering input
    • Fixed localization update script writing BOMs in .po files on Windows
  • Announced development of the launcher 2.0
  • Began experimenting with the possibility of multiplayer
Please consider that this is just an experimental prototype and that there is a strong possibility that multiplayer will not be pursued further.

  • Narotiza is experimenting with the mucilage compound icon.
