Progress Update 12/07/2024

With the final week before 0.8.0 public release test build being released, we managed to complete the last new feature in the 0.7.x roadmap meaning we are on schedule to release 0.8.0 version and start the next development milestone. We just have a lot of tweaking left over the next two weeks for the features that have been put in.

The last new feature to be added was an organelle suggestion display in the editor. It uses auto-evo to check what organelle gives the most extra gathered energy, giving easy insight into what auto-evo would prefer the player to do, which has been a long running complaint that it is hard to know what auto-evo wants you to do so that it doesn’t crash your population. Still the feature only checks single added organelles so it isn’t an absolute guide or a long-term planning tool. Also as a final bit of news the Thrive Mac builds are hopefully making a return with 0.8.0! They are about half done now so it’ll get done assuming big unexpected roadblocks don’t show up at the last minute.

Programming

  • New DevBuild for our patrons:
    • Added an organelle suggestion that is shown in the editor which gives info on what auto-evo would like the player to add
    • Created new membrane textures that help make the 3D membranes of different types more easily distinguishable (as the change to 3D membranes made all the membranes look very similar)
    • Mucocyst can now be used by the AI to defend itself
    • Made engulfing info be last in the membrane tooltips like it was previously (before tooltip refactoring broke it)
    • Added a warning tooltip for the speed stat in the editor about how it is not fully accurate
    • Fixed a bug in volcanism effect that caused it to add way more CO2 than originally intended
    • Fixed non-LAWK unlocks showing after loading a save
    • Fixed osmoregulation showing in rigidity slider tooltip
    • Fixed gdUnit files being in Thrive releases
    • Updated to .NET 9
    • Updated YamlDotNet from 16.2.0 to 16.2.1
    • Improved a few aspects of our CMake files
    • Updated translations
