Progress Update 2/26/2022

This week we touched up a few of our current features to further maintain the quality of Thrive; binding agents should be more stable, tutorials just a tad more effective, and various other miscellaneous changes.

We are proud to announce that development on the multicellular prototype has now officially begun, though for now most of that work has gone into refactoring in preparation. Keep in mind that this is a prototype, and that the bulk of our focus will continue to remain on the microbe stage until it is sufficiently complete.

Programming

  • Development has now begun on a prototype for the next stage of Thrive; Multicellular. There is not much to show for the time being.
  • New DevBuild for our patrons:
    • Added proper icon for signaling agents
    • Made the tutorial highlight background darker
    • Added some code to the binding process that tries to detect disposed cells earlier, hopefully improves sometimes buggy binding
    • Added a way for Godot objects to skip queued method invocations without any warning messages that were previously quite prevalent from bbcode in the editor
    • Few tweaks to automatic code checks – Updated styleguide
    • Updated translations

Graphics

  • Created a new icon for the signaling agents.

Gameplay

  • We gave the AI some attention by giving them new behavior tied to the chemoreceptor. Now AI will be far less aimless when they evolve one.
  • The tutorials have had a bit of rewording in an effort to better convey information in an understandable manner.
